Yes, you can go on foot, but you don’t have to! The lifts that take you up to the ski slopes in winter are also open in summer and take you up to a true hiking paradise. Simply take the cable car up the mountain and save your energy for the last few metres in altitude. From the top station, the ascent to the summit is easy!

From the Hotel "das Alois" in Tux you can easily reach 3 of the summer mountain lifts in Zillertal within a few minutes’ walk or drive. Among them are the Eggalm Bahnen, the Hintertuxer glacier and the Finkenberger Almbahnen. Various play stations and a large water pond with a pull boat can be found at the Eggalmbahn top station at 1,950 metres above sea level. An absolute highlight of the Eggalmbahn is the new “Almspielerei”, where climbers of all ages can put their skills to the test on the boulder wall. The Eggalm hiking rally encourages you to guess, puzzle and discover nature.
Ambitious adventurers will receive a gift at the base station when they hand in their completed puzzle pass. There is a hike to suite everyone on the Eggalm. From leisurely circular hikes for families to challenging summit tours for the more ambitious.

On the Hintertux glacier you are able to experience fun in the snow on 365 days of the year, at an altitude of 3.250 m. Experience breath-taking views from the viewing platform on the panorama terrace.
The natural ice palace takes you into the centre of the glacier, 30 m under the ski slopes. Discover the caves, information on the ice and plenty of interesting facts. Explore the Spannagelhöhle, the largest and only marble cave in the Central Alps.
Experience fun for whole family in Luis’ Gletscherflohpark, and Kugel safari. The Hintertux glacier offers leisurely tours or challenging summits – there’s something for everyone.

The Finkenberger Almbahnen will take you up to the idyllic Penkenjoch at an altitude of 2095m. A beautiful panorama awaits you with views of the Zillertal Alps and the Hintertux glacier. There are several highlights to discover along the hiking paths. In Pepi’s Kinderland there is a playground with a climbing wall, a playhouse, a climbing garden and swings waiting for young explorers.
One of the greatest highlights is the “Capella Granata”, a chapel made of garnet, which was designed by the famous Swiss architect Mario Botta. It is located at 2087 metres above sea level to the east of the reservoir on the Penkenjoch. There is also plenty of action on the Finkenberg. You can put your skills and reactions to the test on the Funballz, E-trial course, and motor skills course or mountain scooter tours.
